In 1921, George Groenewold started what would come to be known as Groenewold Fur and Wool Co. He tried anything he could to make ends meet, including selling eggs and even tractors. Eventually, George found success and passion in buying and selling wild fur and sheep's wool.
His son, Grant, was brought up in the family business, and he expanded the trade across the United States. Grant and his wife, Beverly, traveled the road buying fur together from trappers and hunters. Grant would then market the fur in many European countries.
By 1993, Grant's sons had taken official roles in the company and pursued continued growth in new markets. They weathered the rapidly changing industry and financial crises which required them to continuously adopt and innovate.
Today, Groenewold Fur & Wool Co is internationally known with partners across many countries. They continue to revolutionize the fur trade with new technology and unique market insights, all while remaining true to the generations of local families employed there as well as the dedicated hunters and trappers who make it a tradition to "sell to Groeny."
Groenewold Fur and Wool Co, with cultural ties dating back centuries, provides a stronger market for hunters and trappers as well as a reliable coat for their work, all while using a material that is beautiful and eco-friendly.
